A Story of the Flowing Music
"A Story of the Flowing Music" is based on a true story from the book Facing the Challenge, published by the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation. The film features rising star Joanne Tseng, known for her role in The Protectress, in the lead role. It also features a special guest appearance by musical fairy Yung-Ling Huang, who plays the protagonist’s childhood music teacher.
In just 24 minutes, the film powerfully portrays the heartfelt journey of a young woman with hearing loss in one ear, who, through unwavering determination and tireless practice, pursues her dream of studying music.
Joanne Tseng studied social work at university and interned at the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation during her student years. She was later invited to star in A Story of the Flowing Music, portraying a music major born with microtia and hearing impairment.
To help Joanne understand the world of microtia patients and prepare for her role, the foundation arranged for her to follow social workers during clinical visits at the Chang Gung Craniofacial Center. Through this hands-on experience, she learned how individuals with microtia adapt to differences in appearance and overcome the many challenges brought on by hearing loss in daily life.
During her internship, Joanne set aside her celebrity status and humbly shadowed senior social workers, earning praise from the medical staff, social workers, and patients alike.
Though she is currently busy filming a new drama, Joanne took a break from her packed schedule to attend the film’s special screening, hoping to share this inspiring story and its positive message with a wider audience.
