Dr. Samuel Noordhoff Received the 9th Presidential Cultural Award

Thank you president Tsai Ing-wen and the people of Taiwan for this great honor. I am humbled by it. Although my health doesn't permit me to travel back to Taiwan, my heart will always be there.

A lot has happened in Taiwan since I arrived in 1959. The one thing that hasn't changed is the people. 

On behalf of the people in Taiwan's medical field, this award is really yours. For you see, you cannot accomplish anything by yourself. Many hard working and wonderful people helped me through the years. It is the people in the medical field of Taiwan that have worked hard to develop Taiwan's medical community into the world renowned community it is today. All of you are humanitarians if you just reach out and help someone in need. I'd highly encourage everyone in every field to try it. You'll be surprised how a simple step in one direction can lead you to a lifetime of blessed memories. I am truly blessed.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
