Dr. Kwame, a plastic surgeon from Ghana Africa, visited the NCF office yesterday. Dr. Kwame was the NCF Seed Surgeon in 2007.

Ghana is a country of 25million people but there are only 8 plastic surgeons limited to 2 cities and 3 hospitals. “Any plastic surgeon with a kind heart cannot remain in his or her shell.” Dr. Kwame shared with NCF. And that’s why Kwame found the GRAFT (Ghana Reconstruction of Trauma and Anomaly Fund) Foundation after finishing the training in CGMH. GRAFT organized medical missions, trying to do the free surgeries for those people in need in the rural areas of Ghana. Cases they do involve cleft, contractures, syndactaly, Extradigits, genital filariasis etc.

Dr. Kwame said that the ultimate goal of GRAFT is “ To build an ultra modern Plastic Surgery Hospital to take care of needy patients free of charge.”

NCF is glad to see the Sprout of Hope growing after fellows complete the training in Taiwan.
