Pre-Surgery Workshop

An alveolar bone graft is a surgery to add bone to the gum ridge in a child who was born with both a cleft lip and a cleft palate. The best age at which to do the alveolar bone graft will be different for every child. Most children who have an alveolar bone graft are between the ages of 7 and 11 years old.

NCF holds free workshops twice a year to help reduce anxiety and get answers to questions patients and their parents might have about the pending surgeries. A team of experts from surgeon, nurse and social worker is involved. This summer, there were 10 pairs of children and parents participated.
